Homeoffice outfit ideas for a professional image

The priority during this corona crisis is, without a doubt, staying comfortable and feeling good.

But, of course, that doesn’t mean you should compromise your professional image with the wrong outfit and attitudes (or even become a meme rsrsrs), wich can damage the reputation you worked so hard to achieve in your career so far.

Not to mention that when we look good, we tend to feel good as well, right? Researches show that we are more productive and assertive when dressing our part too. I myself could never work properly in my PJs: I have to go through my morning ritual (creams, sunscreen and basic makeup on, dressing up and having coffee) before I can feel like a girlboss again!

With this in mind, here are some outfit ideas for you to keep looking sharp but also feel comfortable, cozy and confident while working from home:

A comfy jeans and a white, oversized shirt. You don’t need much more than that to be cozy but feel like the boss!

There are now a number of different options of very comfortable loungewear sets with some added sophistication, like cashmere, silk + cotton blends, volume on sleaves, ruffles and so on. Take your pick and don’t forget to add some accessories in your “face frame” (face + decoleté, that will be visible on video) to make it a little more formal, like a necklace or scarf, .

One of the coziest pieces of clothes out there is definitely the maxi-cardigan, and it can fit in your homeoffice professional wardrobe - as long as in very good shape - to complement simpler t-shirts or tops below. This 3rd element on your look, which can also be a blazer, vest, scarf, necklace or brooch, makes your image look instantly more put together.

There is definitely something about a fluffy sweater that makes us feel at home, right? It can be used for videoconferencing too, and with the right print, like this leopard (or stripes or porlkadots) they also bring a modern and more fashionable touch to your non-verbal communication.

If you feel your work clothes put you in a more professional and productive mood, chino pants with stretch or elastane can be quite comfortable indded. They can be paired with a crepe or fine cotton shirt with some details like ruffles or bat sleeves for a modern touch. Keep your comfy socks instead of these heels, though ;)

I love maxi and midi dresses and, by the way, they are a huge trend for spring, as well as super comfy and stilish to stay at home. Either with or without print, they are homeoffice ready too…

Accessories are a huge part of your virtual image while videconferencing, as they emoldurate and highlight your face. Bet on necklaces (small or medium), nice (but not so big) earings, scarfs, brooches and, why not, also tiaras and hair accessories to vary your looks and keep things interesting, especially on “bad hair days”.

A bow in the collar brings instant feminility and sophistication to your outfit and overall image. Go with blouses and shirts that already come with one, but you can also improvise: a black scarf or bow can be tied around the neck of a normal shirt like in the image above!Softer blazers or cardigans are also a great choice for sophistication: a linen or crepe blazer, teddy cardigan, a velvet or satin bomber or soft tweed jacket, like this one on Blair.

Keep also in mind that your face will be totally on the spotlight while videoconferencing, which means that a light makeup to look healthy and office ready is very recommended: just sunscreen with color or base, blush, mascara and lipgloss are enough though. Anything else is a plus for when you’re feeling inspired! ;)
